This new ballet project is called ‘Feminicidios x Flowers.’ This ballet is made of 15 dancers and a collaboration with the artist Maria Ibanez Lago. Its theme is the feminicidios, Spanish term used to refer to the contemporary rise of protest in Mexico concerning the murders of women due to misogyny. The director is creating a cross analysis with this problem at a global scale and the Azerbaijani folk tale of Malek Mohammad. Ballet Maison Barkhord produces a new narrative of the hero in the story. Considering dance and more specifically contemporary ballet as an abstract language, women are not symbolised by gender. The ballet will use movement and representation of symbols to embody the feminicidios through its transformation into flower, unity, and strength.
